Disto (V2 at the time of this writing) is an emulation of two different devices in one. It is designed by merging their features to get a single processing system.
A Mid/Side encoding/decoding matrix is added to the rack, which, thanks to independent controls, gives full access to Mid and Side processing.
The character of the rack is widely expanded, by offering a "Standard/Out of Order" selection. Standard mode has the character and headroom of the original modelled devices. Out of Order mode has a lot stronger effects for stronger processing.
Nice sounding compressor. Really reminiscent of that sound...Just not $320 better than Disto, thats all. After hearing, im willing to spend $149 on it absolute max, so if it ever hits that point, i might buy.
Looks like it is finally here. Simpler, faster (0.5% cpu?), DSP (7 instances on a single chip!), fantastic sound. Available as VST/AU/AAX/Native/DSP/Win/Mac/32/64bit, Disto-S is the natural evolution of Disto. While the original version was aimed to expand the concept, this one is a simple emulation of a Distressor by Empirical Labs. Straight-forward, super-fast, beautiful sound. The "preset-to-clipboard"...
...and the resonance sweet spots are different... So I just plug the Avalon analogue synth either into an analogue distortion or into the UAD ProCo Rat emulation. A native plugin doesn't have any advantages in my use case and the ODR-1 pedal is cheap while the plugin is not cheap at all.
