A phantom powered version of the original U47 was released in 1969 known as the U47 Fet. The circuit was quite desirable, using transistors creating a very robust sound. The Fet mic has since obtained a legendary status being the most preferred mic in obtaining larger-than-life Kick and Bass tracks as well as thick and full vocals. The U47 Fet is now becoming as sought after as the U47. Employing the exact replica of the original grille is one of the key aspects of achieving the correct performance of this mic. Package includes: CM7 FET Microphone, K47 Dual Membrane Capsule, Plush Oak Microphone Box, Historic Shock-mount, and 1-year warranty.
Hi Thanks for that. So the Mic and Compressor being the variables here, would you recommend any other microphones such as a standard U87 (old, new... im not sure) or something like a Wunder CM7 FET (on special atm for $2K) Thanks,
If you want a U47fet buy the original (ie: the Neumann reissue) - everything else is a copy.
Sometimes some of the most revered mics don't work so well as other candidates on a SPECIFIC source, given YOUR taste and goals. I'm sure that with most of these mics you might have reached a decent result, but that's exactly why you're testing them out.. To find the one that works better for YOUR vocals...
