Heed help identifying synth-pop-age drums!!

Hi!

How to get this style of drums?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz52...youtu.be&t=32s (Clan Of Xymox)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuezNswtRfo (Sisters Of Mercy)

I have a feeling that it's just processed TR-909 or smth not so far from it...
Anyhow. Guys, please advise on the instrument + required processing!

Thank you!
S.

Awesome!!
Thanks so much!

Regarding processing - could you advise a method/compressor/settings/smth to make snare so prominent, please?

Thanks again,
S.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.

Nope, I can't advise you on that.
However you can try to search GS on this matter; there are threads about 80's and drums.

Kind regards,

M.

This looks like rather old (though interesting) information (he refers to "Emagic's Logic", which hasn't been the name of Logic Pro since 2002).

Does anyone know of any contemporary plug-ins that can be used to simulate the Sisters of Mercy drum sound?

Why not use samples of the machine they used?

at the point in the link, they look to be saying that they moved to using Yamaha RX5 kick and snare sample. running on an S1000 which was triggered from a custom made old DOS based computer, running sequencer plus software. I've use that setup myself, so I can understand why they like them. thing is though, they will be using a host of worked on samples they've taken from their own productions. so regardless of any hardware they use now, they will still probably have all their own custom samples in whatever system they use now.
