Does my epic mix Suck?

Alright, maybe this isn't epic but...... After 15 years of collecting gear and knowledge I finally feel like I am ready to try and do a solid recording in my own studio. This is my most complete attempt at recording an entire band with acoustic drums.
I think the tracks are pretty solid I feel like there is some problems with the mix. I am also not sure of my compression choices.
Please don't tell me it sucks, tell me how bad it sucks

It's not that bad!

I feel like there is some problems with the mix.
I think the vocal is too loud and has too much chorus/flanger/whatever effect that is on it. It's making it sound nasally. Maybe ditch the chorus/flanger for some subtle reverb. I also think the drums are too quiet.

I am also not sure of my compression choices.
I think compression killed your drums

I would go with only 1-2 dB on each drum with slow attack times. Hard compression on overheads to give the cymbals sustain. Then I'd put all the drums/overheads on a bus and add maybe another 1-2 dB of compression with a fast attack to give them some cohesion and extra fatness, and tame the peakiness a little.

I think the mix could sound good with a little work

Thanks for the quick reply, after reading your coments I listened to a couple older versions from before any mixing had been done and realized how much better the drums sounded. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

Cool song and performance. Great guitar parts and sound, though the slide is too loud IMO. Overall, I'd shorten the song. Sample Seven made some excellent points re drums and vocal. Some of the double tracked vocals could benefit from editing or retracking to tighten them up rhythmically,

Thanks to both of you guys, I didn't have a chance to upload the latest mix but your suggests made a huge difference. The drums are poping and the vocals have some body now and don't sound so thin.
