Heya Kierkes!
Thank you for the compliment! I focus on one aspect of my productions at a time. Right now I am getting nitty gritty with mixing better and mixing technique.

And Erics technique is exactly what I did! With a small adjustment on both mics.

I got the guitar sound with a $250 takemine and m-audio pulsar II pair ($150 used?)

I'm not a pro musician or engineer by any stretch. I'm just learning.
Have no clue what i'm doing in either regards.
This was just a rough take of a song I was writing. Lyrics are nonsensical (my friend writes my lyrics to fit my nonsense...and he was gone)

I recorded this at my friends house while babysitting his birds and dogs.

1) I used his behringer mic that he got used from a store in germany.
2) i used his cheap interface. $100 cheap
3) I'm pretty sure i used my ua solo 110 on the mic. Room treatment was wallpaper and glue. I used my own berhinger mdx compressor and used its automatic setting.
4) Used really cheap $8 headphones. Thats where things went wrong.
5) guitar was a direct mesa studio preamp.
(i rarely mic amps anywhere but on a stage). Direct guitar always sounds harsher than thru a cab with a power amp but the police vowed to charge me if they saw me again about noise. That was 6 years ago and I've been paranoid and chattering teeth ever since. "what are you here in jail for?" .. "uh, louding"
6) pretty sure there was a boss ds-1 too.
7) I took as much bass out as possible with EQ because it was a mess.
My A string keeps popping out of the grooves. 3 pops and I gave up trying to play.

Hai guise!

Super new here, found out about it from a friend at createdigitalmusic, let me say I think this place is the beez kneez!

Here's my most recent song, its an electronic sound, kind of housish?

I'm gona try it on a club system next time I DJ but I think the bass might be too heavy?

Here is what I used:

DAW: Ableton Live
Monitors: Event ASP8
Interface: EMU 1616m

All the synths and stuff are from either a DSI Mopho or the synths that come with Ableton Suite. Oh also Sylenth1 and ACE

All the plugs I used for FX are either from the ones that come with Ableton or stupid ones

Lemme know what you think!

Thank you very much! Remember, budget gear can do wonderful things.

Here is the newest addition to my portfolio. Done this past weekend. Mostly Virtual instruments from Logic 9. Guitar, acc guitar, and bass are not VIs. Once again, I was brought a few acoustic guitar chords by a client and spent 8 hours with the artist producing it. All instrumentation, programming, etc done by me, as well as the mix and master.

Another MacBook microphone recording through logic pro. I usually use this setup when writing songs before tracking them "seriously." Just something I threw together yesterday.

Did this with a Shure drum mic set, pair of behringer C1s and a Rode NT-1

Drums were recorded with a Tascam 2488 and then the rest into Cubase 5 via a Presonus Inspire. No separation between tracking room & control room = everything through headphones & very difficult to tell what was what.

Very cheap gear but i'm pleased with the final masters

A crappy sennheiser e815s on vox and acoustic... programmed drums (FL), guitar rig.
Still a work in progress.
