Hey,
here's my mix. No drum replacing, guitars were done with Massey THC, because I did not have time to re-amp.

That track was really fun! Impressive, considering the age of the players thumbsup
Thank you very much for sharing!

it actually made me enjoy the song more :-)
now, I know you mastered it too, which gives you the "louder is better advantage", but regardless, to me it's the best mix so far.

I agree his mix is really great, love the punch.

What I heared first is that vocals and snare doesn't sit quite right to me.
On Vocals perhaps a bit more compressing or fader-riding.
The snare is a bit to prominent for me. Well, actually I don't like the snare sound for this song. I know it sounded the way it does. I also struggled to get out that honky "boooiiing" tone plus creating some useful punch.

You tried to use all instruments like many others. If so always make clear for each and every part what is the main actor, what is the supporter and what is just embellishment. But never leave a listener allone in the sense that it is not clear what he should listen for. That's your job to take him by the hand. Others than that you are on the right track

I definitely agree with Andreas comments. The vocals are coming in and out. Some compression would help. Also, there seems to be some serious sibilance in the main vox.

I feel very honoured man! You allready got some great comments. As far as I remember I took some 1k out of the snare and added some stuff at 200Hz and prolly around 4 to 6K to loose a bit of that hooooonk in the snare and get more weight. I really like the kick and bass sound in your mix but I think it's a tiny bit too loud. If you have to get that mix to a competitive level you have to go easier on the low end - that's the art of balancing heh. I actually prefer your git sound in the intro to mine - can we swap?

Hello folks,
First post on the board. I was checking out gs and then found this thread and I couldn't resist. I had a great time mixing this song, thanks for posting it.

You can download my mix here.

Best tip I can give regarding the song; sing a few harmonies. I created a few using a pitch corrector, but that shouldn't really be the way to go.

Second approach

Ran the mix thru the Tube-Tech SSA2B to give it a little analog feel and some width.
The mix is more melting now in my opinion -

Enjoy

So I had some time left and mixed my former ITB mix up from the scratch but this time OTB on a Siemens C4 console with outboard gear.

Sounds different? What do you think?

roadie still trying...

Hey -

Thanks for the input! I had not done any EQ'ng besides the kick and the bass...I EQ'd the snare to remove the the ring, adjusted a few guitar levels (maybe too loud now), inserted the vocal as a sidechain input on the guitar bus, purchased the UAD de-esser for the vocal and also increased the compression on the lead vocal...

overall may or may not be better...

OK - I listened to this one again and feel it is better than my earlier ones so I removed them. Please beat up on this mix and tell me what does not work / should be different!!!
