Recorded in Sydney late 1980 - First use of a TR 808 and MC 4 microcomposer on record.
(Despite what the 808 wiki fan boys say) TR-808 Drum Machine Flashback - Roland U.S. Blog

I remember hating the snare and sent it out to a detuned 8" drum with an Auratone on top.

Just finished this one, I'm currently recording an EP but got kind of frustrated with how long it's taking so wrote this and decided to crank it out in about 2 days to keep things fresh. I'd love to hear what people think:

If there was a radio station that played stuff like this, I'd listen to it all the time. Fun, upbeat, and very well produced.

Thanks! Here's a more recent " one man" studio based project with an AC/DC family connection. I did the track and the vocals were done in Australia.

Here's the most recent song I completed. Just noticed this thread, so figured I'd put it in here, as I went to the trouble to put it onto Spotify!

This is a great tune, Bobby. I love the simple production and the intimacy that gives the vocal. Fun song!

Rolling Along

Here is a song where I did everything but the drums and a high harmony that my daughter sang in the outro. I know, I know...I did write, play all the other inst, mix, sing, etc in my home studio.

Here's another one man ambient cinematic instrumental track of mine! Hope you like it! Kept the main melody simpler this time

Feedback is welcome as always!

Work in progress here...only one verse has scratch vox, but the instruments are done. Better appreciated with subs for the chorus parts. The organ is a Hammond L133. And yeah...I'm stuck in the late 70's.

I normally don't make electronic music, but I'm a bit pleased with how this one turned out. Lots of playing around with sound manipulation.

I posted this cinematic ambient track previously, but took it down to get it remastered properly. I hope it makes you want to look at the sky and find a reason to live & chase your dreams:

I think this is a sweet song. Nice vocal harmonies, nice vibe. Get past a certain age and you actually do just "keep rolling along". Keep doin' it, man!

Free Music Giveaway

Hi guys, so in light of it being my birthday today, I've decided to give one of my original compositions away. This one is up for free download, and was composed, mixed and mastered from my little home studio.

It's a cinematic ambient soundtrack. I hope you guys like it. Any feedback is more than welcome. Otherwise, enjoy

Do let me know if you wanna use it for any commercial purposes though!

Hey guys, here are some of the tracks I have made in a one-man-band type style. All tracks were recorded with Cubase and mixed/mastered with Izotope Ozone. I play piano, saxophone, bass, and I program drums.

Ha, the evil song is like Emerson Lake and Palmer on crystal meth!

Slow Jam is a fine thing. Can't believe that's all you. Only critique - I would place the drums further back in the mix, maybe with a touch of reverb. I'm not a big fan of heavy snare anyway, so maybe it's just me.

Hello all,

I'd like to share with you a new cinematic composition of mine. I've placed more emphasis on the piano this time and used guitars to add sonic texture in the background. It would mean a whole lot if you would give it a listen

I hope it inspires you and makes you happy. Any feedback is really welcome .

It has also been licensed for non-exclusive usage by commercial entities.

Best Regards,
Greg

Here are some songs I've written and recorded over the years, doing everything except playing drums and some orchestral instruments. This community taught me a lot! Thanks guys and gals.

This is very well done! Very 70's singer/songwriter. Brings me a back. I like the way the album also sounds just like that - a cohesive album and yet it doesn't all sound like the same song over and over. That's quickly becoming a lost art.
"Towns Where We Live" is probably my favorite since it is a bit more upbeat.
The orchestral arrangement is really, really good, just sometimes it's a bit too loud in the mix. But that could very well be YouTube compression at work.
Again, great job.

Holy crab, dude! You just got yourself an instant follower. The tunes as well as the descriptions make me wish I were more like you. It's discordant without being straight avant garde - it keeps the listener tuned in.
My favorite is definitely Evil is Bad 4 U. The Slow Jams is perfect for nightcap enjoyment. And Synth Test is somewhere in the middle.
It's also well produced. Shows talent. My only criticism is that the drums are programmed. If they were real, oh man. I'd lose my mind. but that's probably just me since I play.
Anyway, thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

Two different styles fro the same guy (me)

Okay, fine. I'll post a few - just two for now.
I wrote, engineered, produced performed, mixed, and mastered these things myself. No samples, no midi. No assistance from anyone. Just moved to a new city so I couldn't have help, even if I wanted it.
This one is kinda rock/kinda metal. Drums, guitar, bass, vocals. Nothing fancy.

And this one is a piano ballad with me on piano and vocals. Still kinda a demo since I don't know what, if anything, I'm going to add.

I have more one man band stuff but a little heavier and a lot more dense than these. Maybe I'll post later depending on the response.

Thanks in advance for listening.

Lost the War - the first few bars had me solidly in 1968 or so. Nice, dirty, funky pure rock n' roll.

Selfish Me - excuse me if I heard a touch of Boz Skaggs in the quiet vocals.

Your stuff is pleasantly retro, and your production values are solid. Keep up the good work!

Exhausting video. Running in the cold sucks.
The song is very unconventional, almost as though it was a South African band leaning towards American rock. I appreciate something that is actually different - hard to find that now a days. I also enjoyed the sentiment about writing songs about a girl while she doesn't even know who you are. I'm a dude so I'm not supposed to say this, but that is wonderfully romantic.
I gave it a like on YouTube. Thanks for the share.
