Nice Re-Make (Rock-Trio)

Hey slutz,

i´ve been doing some backup/archiving work today. I found a very nice recording
which i did with my favourite local band a couple of years ago.
It´s a very nice version based upon a traditional you might know....

Here are the facts:

Recording

- Mackie SR40
- three Blackface ADATs (one of them ate tape during the mixdown )
- Magnat HiFi Speakers
- Live Siderack: Lexicon, dbx, Alesis, Peavey
- Live Microphones: D112, SM57, SM 58, the usual suspects...

Mastered with a TC Finalizer (thought it was great, back then)

What do you think?

the recording is well don overall. there is a lot of bottom end, i'd say too much, it sounds boomy here.
the stereo-spread of the guitars may be overdone. i like the recording of the voice, sounds really nice.

Yes, i miss some high´s, too. Thanks for the comment!

What´s with the other guys that gave a listen...?
Not worth commenting?

I dig it,
seems a little bottom-heavy but not overtly.
my only real criticism is the vox are pitchy here and there.

Besides of the sounds/mix - what do you guys think about the band´s
approach for this song?
First time i heard their version on a rehearsal, i thought it was a cool
idea - not just doing a cover tune like many other bands....

Nice work...

Boy ADATs are ADATS....I actually miss that sound sometimes!

OK The mix is too boomy...just too muddy. It isn't an overall mix thing but individual tracks...(try LOW cut high pass on EACH track)

The vocals are buried...

But the band sounds great...cool vibe. Sounds 90's.

Peace and Respect,

Thanks for the input! I totally agree with all the guys complaining
about the boomy sound.

Really? I will take a listen on some different speakers tomorrow...

Anyway - i´m producing the band´s next album. As soon as i´m done,
i will post another song (similar style). Can´t wait to hear what you guys
think about the new song/mix!
