Either some pretty noticable intonation or tuning issues are going on with the guitars, mainly on the clean parts. The snare sounds kinda small maybe could be tuned a bit better. Other than that, any comments would be personal opinion. Sounds good.

Great song. Where can i find more from this band?

mix-wise, i like it. The snare is a bity tiny for this style of music but i dont think it really affects the song. I really like how the voice sounds..awesome. Why did you use an upwards compressor on it ?

What's up guys.. thanks again for all of the comments!

You can listen to a few more of their tunes here: Index A on Myspace.com

I engineered and mixed those songs as well... although at different times.

The session were all mixed and recorded at 44.1khz.

Don't get me wrong, it sounds more dramatic than it is! These are more subtile things or may be just my taste. I attached you a mp3 where I'd tried to simulate.

Andreas

That didnt help..It just added mud and less definition. the only thing I can think is your monitors may be lacking in that area. It also sounds like you killed it with a limiter..a/b with his mix a few times it should be clear his mix was better the way it was

Whoa.. raised from the dead.

I went and relistened to both files and agree with Absolute that Andreas G's file was a bit muddy, and squashed in comparison. But all he had to work with was an mp3, so I'll reserve judgement.

I do agree that my original mix needed a bit more low end/low mids. I'm trying to pay more attention to those areas when I mix nowadays.

Great mix. What was the guitar signal chain/processing chain?

Hmmm.. if I remember correctly.

Gibson SG -> Marshall TSL2000 -> Royer 121/ SM 57 (combo) -> Chandler TG2 -> DAW.
