Last week I tracked a demo for a band on my newly bought uber budget mobile rig. The location was a rehearsal room.
The gear at my disposal on this mini project:
- AMD64 Laptop
- Firepod and it's 8 pres
- Really Nice Compressor inserted on channels 1 and 2 of the Firepod
- Stereo Ridge Farm Gas Cooker Valve DI/Pre
- 4 or 5 57s, an AT25 and a pair of AT3035s.
I mixed the track back in my normal room on my studio rig and was very impressed with the quality of the recording. I normally use an Apogee Rosetta 800 for digital conversion.
Very cool. I have heard fairly positve reviews of the Firepod all around. I was considering it too, but I am really thinking the new Echo AudioFire 12 might be more suitable for me.
I have pre's and stuff covered so I really only want the conversion, plus I would like to have 12 channels in case I want to get crazy on drum miking.
