I would, in general, put the vocals more in front.

But that is an aesthetic opinion, nothing more.

Your music is amaaazing. Love it dude.

I actually like the drum sound on the hand of glory more than the Albini song.

However, I think the vocals/bass/guitars sound better on the Albini stuff. It's all in the subtlety. Your singer is really captivating, which helps.

but I've always loved Steve's vocal sounds regardless

Albini's track has a much cooler vocal sound, and the drums sound just as powerful without being as hyped and exaggerated. The guitars are set further back, space-wise.

"Hand of Glory" sounds pretty cool. I like vocals that are tucked back in the mix, but I think this takes it a bit too far. Your mix has a much different feel. The guitars are right up against my ear, which is cool, but definitely a different approach. The sparse arrangement at the beginning helps give the snare and toms a perception of hugeness that the listener remembers even after they get dominated by the guitars later on down the line.

The only thing I don't like about your mix is the cymbals. Other than that, killer work. Sounds like a record people would buy, provided that they're into this style of music.

The drums on his track sit in a much cleaner space. But I would argue that yours sound huger and more in your face. The band is cool, I enjoy it even if I never listen to that kind of stuff. Good job.

I dig all the tracks (esp drums on the first track), but dug Albini's guitar tone best on the unmastered.
