First time country...

This is my first time recording and mixing country style music. Im pretty happy with the basic sounds and this isnt a final mix but a working mix from protools, any tips or hints welcome.

Is there a different approach than for say rock or pop

Thanks

PS - The singer likes it real dry so point trying to add reverb to the vocal

i love it. only thing i would do is back off the vocals a tad. country is typically mixed vocals hot. thats all i would do. otherwise, i think neil young is coming back.......can you please track "heart of gold" and post it?

real nice........only thing that strikes me is his pitching at the bottom of his voice could do with some attention

Thanks for all the comments. Much appreciated.

I recorded the acoustic with a pair of Neumann 184s through some neve broadcast pres and straight to protools at 96k.

I've been listening to your mix/song a couple of days and I really, really dig the sound. You've done an amazing job bro. You took back the good mix/music to Internet - thanks!

Thanks a lot.

Actually mixing his album at the moment, hopefully for a spring release.

Its all about the music though, you can only record what you're given.

check out the man himself.

Hmmm...

You sound like a country older version of Bright Eyes... ~
The mix is solid, but you know this already... This is an obvious (very obvious) professional who recorded this... I can tell by the drum work for the track... Who cares about the vocals, they are not pitching... Its the style...

Dont change anything... the sound engineer and mastering engineer who recorded this will get pissed ~
