Zoom F8 & 2 Rode M5 Pairs

I have been experimenting with a variety of mic's and positioning. Currently I use the Rode's because they are an economical solution for me whilst playing around.

I am setting up like this... (on a Nature reserve in Norfolk, UK).

The mics are on T's on stands and individual shock mounts. They plug in to a 30m (100ft in Church of England) stage Multicore the other end of which is in my nice warm truck.

I use an NTG-2 to get specific detail with a studio baffle behind it reduce sound from the rear, again shockmounted on a stand. This goes to a 5th track.

Also I use a ribbon in some wool socks (really) with a FetHead on to get all the stuff low down in case I miss something below the filters. This goes to the 6th track. Its a bit like a sub mix, that I can bring up to add warmth.

The Zoom F8 has the following Ambio settings in its menu.

Off
FuMa
AmbiX
Ambisonics A (Stereo Monitor)
FuMa (Dual)
Ambix (Dual)
FuMa + Ambisonics A
Ambix + Ambisonics A

And the option for Upright, Upside down or Endfire, for the likes of the Sennheiser et al.

I usually just record 4 mono tracks and use software to combine them later.

For this I use COTS products and some custom code I have been playing around with. More on that another time perhaps.
