How could you guys forget

Mr. Roboto?

Ted Nugent: Every Song
Triumph: Every Song
Sammy Hagar: Every Song
Point Blank: Every Song
38 Special: Every Song
Steve Vai: Every Note, Zappa years included
Stevie Winwood/Eric Clapton: every song during the Michelob era and then some
Bob Dylan: Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 (huuuge Dylan fan here!)

One of the rules of this thread should be that you can't defend any song that you like if it gets nominated. I like a few of the ones mentioned so far, but this she-it's about blowing off steam.

Wow! Tell us how you REALLY feel! Haha! Really interesting how divergent opinions are in this thread. Didn't buy the album, but I think it's cool tune. Quite unique when it came out. Good production/arrangement.

Pharrell Williams (Neptunes) produced it, and [I think] it's a good production for it's style. It was rumored to be a fun pisstake that ended up being put on the album...then massive hit. And like it or not, it does take talent in one form or another to create a hit. I consistently find that the people who are quickest to dismiss pop hits are those who have never tried writing one.

Reading this thread saddens me a bit, because reading through these songs, I usually think of something interesting or fun in the writing or production that people could use to their advantage instead of hating. Oh well.

I think the only song I really won't listen to right now is "Love" by Keyshia Cole. But that's really only because the INSANE amount of pitch correction used hurts my ears.

Alright, I'm out.

Ha! Good one! What about "The Night Chicago Died" by..uh.. Paper Lace, I think. Rapped: "Daddy was a cop, on the east side of Chicago. Back in the USA, back in the bad 'ol days..." All those quasi-tragic tunes. Like "Leader of the Pack"...

Yeah! I think one thing these tragi-tunes have in common is that they are all one hit wonders. Except for Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey". He had a bunch.. "With Pen in Hand" is another tragi-hit. Jimmy Webb scored his first hit with a classy tragi-hit, "By the Time I get to Phoenix" and had others. "Galvaston", "Where's the Playground Suzie". People are just to hip to be moved by a song anymore. Takes a big budget Hollywood film and Bruce or Arnold grimacing in a rainstorm after their wife and daughter has been blown to bits by a terrorist to cause a lump in the throat anymore. Oops...a little off topic..

I thought of another today: anything by AC/DC from the 90's and on is pretty unbearable...Brian Johnson's throat sounds like it's totally closed up! Not to mention the same old rehashed Angus licks (yeah, we get it, you can do single finger tapping...so can I and I'm not a guitarist...) and rhythms.

whoever said "my humps" by the black eyed peas get's a kudo from me. i'll also include that new song the one dude from the black eyed peas does with the pussycat dolls. how awful is that song? ugh

also, "we're going downtown in arugalo goo and sugar we're going down swinging. i'll be your number one with a bullet. a loaded goat tomcat cockatiel pull it."
FALLOUT BOY - whatever that song is called

also anything by LOVERBOY, which brings me to the conclusion that if your band names with "boy," you probably suck.

the entire STYX catalog

honky tonk badonkadonk (it's so awful i kinda like it)

and i loathe the songs "jukebox hero," and "burnin' for you"

Haha! I actually really like that song (enough to pay my $0.99 on iTunes & not bootleg it), but,
credit where's it due - that's pretty funny!

The lyric is:

We're going down, down in an earlier round
And Sugar, we're going down swinging
I'll be your number one with a bullet
A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it

Basically, it's a tune about obsessive crushes and the, errrm, let's say solitary practices resulting from same.

I admire anyone who can work that into a happy-go-lucky pop song.

"Beep" by Pussycat Dolls Feat. Will.I.Am. A rather smart/clever/etc. production for the target market, regardless of taste. Such a simple idea of playing with the "tones of censorship." Wish I'd thought of it first and made all that money.

Speaking of that Fallout Boy song, has anyone seen the animation with guessed-at lyrics? It's hilarious. Google it.

I honestly like a bunch of the songs people have listed so it just goes to show ya...

Glad to see 3 Doors Down getting the beat down. I worked on a show a few years ago that they were on and they were such self rightous pricks. They really had no idea how lucky they were.

Actually this guy was excellent. The media turned him into a novalty/comedy act, but he had the singing and playing down to perfection. Definitely worth studying.

I know we've strayed far and wide from the original topic, and I apologise for adding to the mess, but you know there is one singer (bless his little heart, no fault of his own) who gives me electroshock therapy convulsions - Michael Bolton. I mean the full meal deal, eyes rolled up into the back of my head and flopping around on the floor. No particular reason why, other than that he sounds like he's straining to get his jaw to open, or that I can visualise that big throbbing vein in his forhead even on the radio. Maybe it's 'cause what other make sound so effortless he makes sound soooo hard. Anyway Michael, these are my issues, not yours. Rock on, Dude!

haha, well funny!

Michael Bolton: Yeah, well at least your name isn't Michael Bolton.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?
Michael Bolton: No way. Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

Why bother flogging REM and NICKELBACK, thats not even rock in any sense. Thats just pop with a loud guitar in it. What about taking a look at what's supposed to be rock n roll in the first place. Like say; KISS and "God Gave Rock n Roll to You"? Now to a piece of the lyrics:

"You don't have money or a fancy car
And you're tired of wishin' on a falling star
You gotta put your faith in a loud guitar"

Now that has to be the worst song in rock n roll, no?

/D

(now where's that Cryptopsy CD again..)

That's not rock, that's just middle-class white boys wearing makeup. Rock is Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis.

Someone mentionned Knock Three Times a few "pages" ago............for ****s and giggles, my band sometimes (when we're bored) do a "rendition" of this on our casino dates...aptly re-titled "Knock one-hundred and twenty-seven times"....you've got to see the faces when we start stomping around, on and off the stage, counting out loudly with the drummer doing single strokes on the kick...at least "we" think it's funny!

As for my choice, I have to leave the room when "Achy Breaky" comes on...but if I really wanted to think about it, there are probably hundreds running a close second...

Sign me up here! The worst is when he recycles Bob Dylan lyrics in that song.... "I'm Tangled Up In Blue... I Only Want To Be With You" He's got a lot of nerve.

But Dylan? Thin Lizzy? Springsteen? Worst song in Rock....c'mon.

Hey , that's why there's chocolate and vanilla I guess....

I'll throw in my vote for any song by any grunge band in the 90s.---just to p someone off. Completely forgettable.

The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald - pure fecal matter
Love Shack - can't take it no more
Yeah Yeah Yeahs --- just plain SUCK SUCK SUCKS
Moment Like This - idol crap
Willy Won't Go Home - horrible chorus
Gwen Stefani - all rots
Zombie - Cranberries - smelly flatulence
How's it Gonna Be - pure unadultrated 90's ****
Sususudeo - sususuckeo

But then again, I have nothing musicwise that comes close to the success of the above, so hats off to people who can make money with songs that make a few people cringe.
