just about anything by bush. esp razorblade or whatever the f that album was. poser band.

can't believe i even bought it. i broke the CD immediately after one hearing.

also,
-meatloaf's "i would do anything for love"
-anything kenny wayne shephard. poser, copycat, asshole.
-anything muse. sorry, i just can't stand the guy's voice. but this is coming from a guy who loves billy corgan's voice, so what do i know.

but really, how could anybody forget "faith" by either george michael or limp bizkit? disgrace to all music, imo.

.

I think "Built this City" would have to be in the top 5. The mention of that one produced the most visceral reaction while browsing this thread.

I would, however, gladly take the publishing and royalties for it.

America -- "Horse with no name."

Cherry Poppin' Daddies -- "Zoot-suit riot"

Whitney Houston "The greatest love"

Bette Midler "Wind beneath my wings"

The World Class Wreckin' Cru "Turn out the lights"

Crash Test Dummies "Mmm mmm mmm"

La Bionda -- "Vamos a la playa"

And if I hear the Black-Eye Peas' "My lumps" one more time... ack!!!

Also, how about "Shiny Happy People"? An R.E.M. song we can all agree on.
Those are really about as bad as it gets. Good call!

Starship's "We Built This City" deserves its own category.

However... I'll just quote myself from a previous thread on the topic:

And to add to the list.. let's not forget the greatness that was "The Warrior" by ... uh .. Scandal
"Shootin' at the walls of heartache

I've got one.

"Build me up buttercup" by the foundations.

It latches onto your mind like a sonic leech.
And sucks out all rational thought

I second the Jim Steinman nomination for his entire catelog. I hate his broadway influenced drivel. YUCK!!! The appeal of this over the top/mellow dramatic is beyond me. Andrew Lloyd Weber in pleather.

Wind of Change also gets me going.... and to think this is the same band that had an album called Virgin Killer...

as much as i hate to admit, i do know that it was done by limp bizkit. but i know it cuz i saw it on TV once and was disgusted when i heard a band covering that song, i just had to find out who.

funnily, i was listening to some old tapes i had in the car, and one of them was "mmm mmm mmm mmm". the whole time, i can't stop thinking, who the hell let this thru? how did it get so huge? who's the PR? why the f do i have this song on my tape!??

Come on admit it, how many of you low life bar fly musicians contributed to bad music by playing "Jerimia was a Bullfrog/Joy To The World" at some point in your career ??

My guess, thousands......

How about some lame versions of "Proud Mary" ??

"Gimme Three Steps"

" Freebird"

"Stairway To Heaven"- Now that one impress the babes.

"Old Man" and "Needle and the Damage Done"

And how can we have a thread like this without mentioning.....

"Smoke On The Water" ???

OK, so the "pop" and "rock" categories are getting mixed here and I can't believe no one has any of these mentioned so far:

Rock Me Amadeus

One Night in Bangkok

...as for real rock goes, there are so many. Lots of metal stuff it particularly funny to me:

See you in Hell by Grim Reaper

anything by Cats in Boots

the pop songs by Fab Thunderbirds....Tough Enuff....please

any rock ballad.....Angel, November Rain, Every Rose......ad nauseum....

I once accompanied Tony Orlando on piano while he sang this. Yow. You think it hurts to listen to, imagine what it's like to have that as the only song that people wanna hear you sing.

My vote: Hot Hot Hot by Buster Poindexter. Yow.

My god... this song is just a trainwreck. It has nothing going for it AT ALL.

I honestly and genuinely dig these...

Sister Christian - Knight Ranger (one of my favorite 80's tunes)
Hysteria and Pyromania by Def Lep
Sometimes When We Touch by Dan Hill.
Hootie & the Blowfish.... (Cracked rear view is a brilliant album)
"I Will Survive"... Gloria Gaynor
"Endless Love" Actually I dig alot of Commodores or Lionel Ritchie. Genuis songsmith.
Rupert Holmes "Pinà Colada Song" Genuis Lyrics...and always feels good.
Air Supply "All out of love"... Beautiful song

As well as a ton and ton and ton of sappy syrupy love songs.

My own music is naturally rootsy, soulful and down to earth...but my heart is right here with all of these sugar drenched love songs... MY world would be a lonelier place without most of these songs listed...

I need balance for my happiness...
I can't take Miles Davis or Bach or AC/DC or Zappa or Aretha Franklin or Alice in Chains on a steady diet...As a listening soul I need to be fed all of it in order to feel satisfied.

Much Respect,

As for my pick... I don't have any specific bands...but I never could relate to hardcore death metal.

I cannot stand listening the "The City" by Journey...

"When the lights go down in the city..." <BARF>

Of course, George Thorughgood has had his share of winners and someone mentioned earlier.

How about:

"Ding-a-ling" - Chuck Berry (his only #1 hit BTW...)
"Sugar, Sugar"

Soooo, you guys think the music business is F----up now ?? Just wait till they put Tony Orlando and Dawn in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.....

Sometimes I think it's a bunch of stoned out freaks who request dorky songs just to play a trick on the radio stations and dj's. You know, just for kicks.....

Then I think of the dorky people who actually like this kind of stuff.......yeppir they're out there.
