Has any one mentioned "Mother" by Danzig? That's a top-tenner, at least.

Or a "Bottom-Worstest-Tenner", or sumpin' like that

we are not worthy oh wise idylldon ... Indeed: this has to be the worst case of corporate crap ever dumped on the clueless consumer.

Not to compete with the inscrutable shartishness of WBTC, but if I am ever forced to listen to 'Come On Eileen' again, and I am not close to a convenient high-rise open window, would someone, anyone please ... shoot me.

I hope you are deliberately butchering his name (well, I don't hope, but...)

It's Tom Cochrane.

And the song isn't that bad, just overplayed. Rascal Flatts ruined it even further. It's like that other Nashville band that thought it would be cool to redo "Take the Money and Run". Oh, how original - same arrangement with typical new country oversinging. Yawn.

I'm not an ardent fan, but Tom's actually a really good songwriter (and performer).

My vote for "We built this city".

The sentence "Listen to the radio" says it all in a nutshell, at least for europe.

Polling already?

Hm. A serious contender, after a (reluctant) listen (stop-motion is funny anyway!).
It is truly terrifying really, I forgot that one. The initial 16th hihat drums are exceptionally cheesy, even the local hero outfit would yield a jolly good laugh. The whole, erm, "song" oozes utter cluelessness.

N-th Sequel pathology, I'd suggest.

Any song by REM.

There is more genius in "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey" than there is in the entire REM catalog.

tutt Dude. I like that song. It's dramatic, sure, and perhaps over the top, but it rocks - and the Alan Parsons production is excellent. I like the whole album - (it was derivative of everything I loved in music in 1976 when I was 15)

Haha I remember that movie, along with NWH ( Niggaz with hatz).

The latter had Vanilla Sherbet, Ice Cold, Tasty Taste....haha memories

OT again, I cannot think of a horrid song that hasn't been covered yet, maybe Shiny Happy People by R.E.M. ( ugh)

The Right Said Fred song was a low punch, I feel the pain just by remembering the video

"We built this city"is #1 in a pop context but could be disqualified because its pop.Not Rock n roll as the thread is asking for...."worst song in rock n roll"

If its a pop tune its Huey Lewis and the news "the power of love" or"I want a new drug" is a runner up.

For rock/ alternative...
Alanis Morrisette."You You YOU otta know"

30 million people are wrong.

.Classic rock...Eric Clapton

'Layla".Dreadfull.
I run screaming when I hear this. Total bummer. I can't stand it.The"Unplugged"version is worse. The horror.

Brian Adams
'Cuts like a knife' .most anything by him..... Its total bull**** that made millions..
I love the B.C. mixes.He is talented.

Boston"Don't look back"
Aerosmith.... anything fromThe Geffen years except their 1st with Geffen...Tom ZUTAT is God"Dude looks like a lady"..".love in an elevator".""And last but not least
"Jamies got a gun". or however you spell it.

Honestly, it should be a punishable offense to disqualify WBTC from this thread LOL. I mean, one of the many reasons so many here have it on speed dial to win, and run barfing from it, is that they (JS) thought that it was RnR ... enough to boldly proclaim so in the song lyric. That it just happened to be a limp cheesy corporate pop tart, makes it all the more of a heroic contender (two - two mints in one!) for the twin booby prize.

Look at it this way: in a perversely twisted sort of way, your statement can actually be seen as bolstering the argument for why this *cough* s-s-s-song (ugh!) is such a magnificent turd blossom. heh

Last night I said I had a nice song to play to my girlfriend - i put it on, it was bright eyes by Garfunkel. Well listen up Art, boohoo the rabbit is dead - there are millions of tins of fiver being served up to cats all day and every day everywhere and they don't have to listen to this guilt inducing drivel.

No seriously I will also go for 'wonderful tonight (she puts on her carkeeeeys)' and add 'nothing compares to you' by Sinead O'Connor. UGHHHHH. Also can't take Sheryl Crow's 'soak up the sun (wth was she thinking with that chorus)' and let's be honest 'american pie' is THE worst song every written. imo. How the hell do the Bangles get away with any credit has to be asked as well.

So many bad songs. How about "Objects in the Rearview Mirror (are Closer than they Appear)"--Meathead, er Loaf. Or any Hall and Oats. "Beautiful Boy" (or whatever it is called) by John Lennon. Almost everything new on the radio is total crap. Popular music has hit bottom. But it has been mostly crap since the 70's.

Rap is Crap

and Disco Still Sucks

There should be T-Shirts with those phrases front and back.
