Step 1. Clean electric guitar comes in playing some basic chords, probably
/ Am F / C :// Guitarist will struggle with that hard to play open F chord.

Step 2. Male vocalist, with throughly mediocre tone begins singing an utterly forgettful melody, with lyrical content, depth and insight comparable to a Jr. Higher's first attempt at poetry. He sounds angry, but he doesn't seem to know at who, or why. More than a few notes will be flat. His sound will be dry and highly compressed.

Step 3. Chorus; Tsunami of distorted guitars and increased velocity from the drummie. You can envision the meters pegging. Vocalist continues with only slightly more interesting melody and lyric, with all the anger a white boy from the suburbs can muster.

Step 4. The AE will assert him or herself into the mix with a variety of sound effects, compression tricks, telephone eq, severe gating, or some other gimmick, in a desperate attempt at originality.

Step 5. Vocalist whines his way through some more verses and chorus. Listener still has not the vaguest notion of what the song is about.

STep 6. Since guitarist only know 1st and 2nd position bar chords, there will be no lead playing. There shall be no rest from the drone of the vocal.

Step 7. Thankfully, song ends.

Or you can switch the station and listen to the Brittney clones. Originality is rare, not saying it's not out there, just that it's rare. Beck comes to mind.

So that's my moan for the day.

Over the din of "Tsunami of distorted guitars and increased velocity from the drummie" I HEAR YA!!!!!
I believe even with more talented players that formulaic challenge of song/arrangement is ever present. There are just some things that cannot be purchased from a store.

Moan, almost hand-in-hand with this I'm tired of....
- "Yeah?! It's because of Pro Tools this sucks. Should of been cut to tape".

- "Your Mac blowz, my PC rules" (or vice versa).

I first thought that this was a post that I made, perhaps while drunk, or that you guys were reading my mind but nooooo, you suffer too and that makes me feel better.

Are there hidden cameras in here??
