I actually do have a Tripp Lite line voltage regulator with surge protection. I had taken everything off of it to in an attempt to ferret out a troublesome ground loop... I just hadn't put everything back on yet

Damn that Murphy guy and his Law.

I'm trying to figure if it's worth filing with insurance or not. I'm sure the repairs will be more than my deductible. However, I'd rather pay a little more out of pocket right now than have my rates go up long term.

I'll be crying in a dark corner if anyone needs me.

It was pretty close. If I hadn't been there to pull the module immediately it probably would have been a lot worse.
Here's the position on the ribbon cable where the damaged module was.

When I pulled the module it had a bright red smoking ember about a half centimeter wide on it!

Here's some more carnage from the Master Section:

I've been in touch with the D&R guy here in the US. He's going to talk me through some troubleshooting over the phone & we'll see how it goes from there.

Luckily I just finished the last bit of work I had booked. My wife is due in mid July so I'm not booking again til the fall. I hope all of this can be resolved by then.

The same thing happened to my console, when Motorhead came in to do vocal overdubs.

Please don't use the past tense! It IS a D&R Dayner.

The insurance company says that lightning damage is an act of god and I cannot be penalized for claims due to acts of god with higher rates! So it looks like I'll have to ship the damaged modules & the power supply to the D&R rep to see how extensive all the damage is and how costly it will be to repair.

The ribbon cable used in these desks is long since discontinued and is therefore costly & rare. If all of this goes beyond a certain dollar figure, I imagine the insurance people will cash me out for the cost of the console rather than pursue extensive repairs.

I'll update as events unfold...

To calm you down a bit: D&R is famous for their stocking of spare parts. I hope you'll be happy.

I would not expect one healthy semiconductor, when the lighning has triggered a little EMP pulse in your wiring, like it does most time when it hits like this..
