Fame....and me..gruudge

I have this problem. I hate the town I live in, but I can't move out just yet. I have a very established rep as not only an AE but musician in a very popular band in my area. So leaving would mean starting all over...

Despite my good rep, people are talking massive personal trash about me (thanks in part to the other guitar player in the band), this guy thinks he is the band..lol

A ton of things came to light today, somebody who is a friend of the "guitar player" was telling my manager horrible things about me.

The more popular I get the more lies people spread about me. Girls tell there friends I have slept with them and I get stalked by young girls.!!
My manager is freaking out and I am afraid to leave the house! I have a lawyer, but this is getting out of hand. People have shrines to me on there walls..
I really hate most people in the town I live in, but I want to be professional with my dealings with them...What should I do?

Start a cult?

Walk around in pajamas for a few months and dont shave?

"go to Europe for a while' then come back?

Take a vow of silence for 3 months..(carry a pad and pencil)?

Ride the wave!

If your rep is good, and you feel that people respect you and would listen if you spoke up - go place an add/article in the local newspaper addressing these things.

But first off - confront the guitardude in your band. Tell him that what he does ruins the vibes in the band and that his behavior could tear up the band. Tell him you feel uncomfortable with this situation and that could not possible benifit him or the group that he spreads this **** about you.
If he got half a brain, he should be able to figure out that this whole deal might even obstruct his way to rock'n'roll fame.

I have been in the same situation and it really blows. Good luck m8.

The other guitar player is so gone. This is what I get for not leaving at the 1st sign of trouble. It reminds of being in the studio and having a band brag about how famous they will be...

then they can't play in time, tune there own guitars or get along...ohh.. He has me tune his guitar...and this waker doesn't even own his own guitar rig.
The used me I did there recordings, made them a video and authored a dvd for them.

here is a quote from my manger...
"the only reason i heard ___ is in the band is cuz he has money, and he produces the songs and does their dvd"dfegadegaddfegaddfegaddfegaddfegaddfegad

Win the battle by starting a new band and having better songs! If you remain quiet the truth almost always comes out and the rest of the guys will look like losers for talking ****.

And stay away from fat chicks!

But if you leave town it makes tem look like they were right. I'd suggest attacking the problem head on. You're lucky. You know the source. Most people hide like cowards and spread viscious rumors like wildfires. Pull him aside and have a good conversatoin. Talk to the people he's talked to and tell your side of the story. Most cowards crumble like a sandcastle when confronted.
