Proper support for the arts

As an American I really wish that our Television networks would support actual real musical talent like they do with BBC PROM instead of the incessant pop crap-fest of American Idol and Americas got Talent and other such drivel. Hats off from the colonies for that that series. Hopefully while we are stealing all of your TV shows, we figure out how to include actual musicians.

Never happen. It is estimated that most American TV programs are aimed at 10 to 16 year olds while the BBC is for adults. (excluding children's programming)

BBC is funded by a TAX on radio TV receivers. American TV is funded by advertising. There is a huge difference. The lowest common denominator preferences are what Americans are watching because advertisers are going after the "teen " market. Then you also need to wish that our American TV networks were funded by taxes.

Alternatively, you could go door to door and destroy every DVR in America. Then everyone would have to watch TV in real time, and commercials would actually be seen, and the networks could ratchet up their rates for commercial time. Then they'd have money to burn on programming that supports actual musical talent.

And turn off Netflix/Stan etc.

Although that said - arguably Netflix and the like are kinda similarly funded to a tax-based model (albeit a voluntary opt in tax) - and possibly make some of the best content these days (not versus the BBC - versus the reality shows and so on that are on much free to air TV).

Don't look to TV for musical "talent." Last TV show I cared about regarding talent was "The Sing Off" and these guys came from America's Got Talent
