new Paul Simon CD - Surprise

Aptly named!!

Pino Palladino, Bill Frisell, Abraham Laboriel, Herbie Hancock, Steve Gadd...

Okay, Paul surrounds himself with excellent musicians again, no surprise there.

"Sonic Landscape by Brian Eno"

"Recorded and Programming by Andy Smith"

"Mixed by Chad Blake"

Surprise!!

I watched Paul Saturday night on SNL - new stuff sounded cool, picked up the CD, read the credits as I ripped it into iTunes - okay now I can't wait to listen to it on the way to Paris AES tomorrow!

Any 'Slutz heard it yet - any reviews?

I saw the SNL perfomances, in fact I recorded them, will have to watch again.

I dunno. The music was pretty good, even kind of rockin' at times. But I was dissappointed with Paul's vocals. It was just a blur, he was kind of just droning on, I didn't dig it.

He seemed pretty disconnected on the SNL performance to me. I don't think he is cut out for live stuffs anymore but I am 100% sure the album is killer with that line-up.

Yeah, great line up, but it seemed like everyone was watered down... It lacked the punch i thought Blake and Eno would or should have added. i have heard the CD 9 times already... good cd, but not as great as all the names on it could have done... i.m.o.

very good, lovely textures, nice grooves now & then, bill frisell kills me as usual...
Pauls voice is still very very good.
