Well, I made the plunge. Told the owners of the place I was working at that I wouldn't be renewing my contract.
Packed my bags, and drove to LA from Vancouver.
Well, I was here about 24 hours, and was asked to mix 2 MOW's back to back.
I'm also waiting on my union papers to go through, but I'm not worried.
I've got enough on my plate, and I've barely unpacked.

The wife is still in Vancouver, getting our house ready for sale.
Can't wait for that to be done.

Congrats!!!

Great to hear things are going well for you.

I didn't even realize that you were here.

We should hook-up for coffee or something sometime.

More and better job opportunities.
Better pay.
Better weather.
Lower cost of living.

A Lot of people get fooled by Vancouver and by how pretty it is.
That's all nice and dandy When you're on Vacation or an independently wealthy multi millionaire.
I found it to be a very boring city, and the cost of living is out of control.
The average house price is around 1 million dollars for a basic, nothing special fix it upper.
When we sell our place, we should be able to buy a much nicer house in the Hollywood Hills. Even cars are about 30% more expensive. And sales tax is 15%.
I'm extremely happy about leaving.

And really, if you want to at least a chance of working on High-End post, there's olny 3 places to go. LA, New York and London.

Nice. If you're mixing on the westside one of these days, PM me. We should hang out for a bit. My studio's in Santa Monica.

Welcome to L.A.

I'd save a portion of that house sale and build a landing pad for your chopper. You're going to need it to get around town.
