New YouTube Channel - PlugMEin

Hey Everyone, I've been a longtime Gearslutz member, user and contributor. So it makes me happy, excited and proud to say that I've finally got this channel up and going.
Take a lot everyone and let me know you're thoughts. I wanted to create a channel that was a little more then how you start recording but to go a little deeper into the basics and beyond.
Go into most of the plugins I own (780+) to show tips, tricks and best ways to use these incredible plugins.

Welcome To PlugMEin....

PS...Be gentle...NOT....Hahaha

Marc

Hey Beatworld. Thanks man, I really appreciate the love. Love to hear what you think of the videos and what you guys think could be better or what you would like to see in a video.
I'm going to have some videos coming up ala:

Plugin Review & Ratings: Up to 5 Plugs (First Glance at GUI, Ease To Install & Use, Sound Quality, How much CPU does it take, Price)

Also,

How We Recorded Back In The Day Til Now: (50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & 2k)

In doing that video, WOW, I learned so much as I thought I knew everything it was about recording then you find out how they use to record back in the day and the limits and still those recording came out great is amazing.

Thanks again, Marc

Thx so much Kelvyn, I really appreciate it. Means a lot believe me. So much time goes into these videos and even though I see things that I think could be better, I know I'm kinda anal so, I just decided to go with it. Glad I did. Great feedback.

Thanks again, Marc

Hey TI, thanks man for the great feedback. I appreciate it so much. I have so many video's coming and I'm working on so many more videos because there are a lot of plugins coming out for Christmas and 2019. Good times...

Thanks again, Marc

I watched all of them. Even the intro. Good videos, seems like something I would really enjoy. I like that they are short and useful tips and give me things to want to try out myself. I liked the plugin saturation test and setting up sessions. Gave me some things to think about with my templates. Looking forward to what you do next. I know you hinted at things in those videos. Do you use UAD plugins as well? I'd like to hear your take on those as well if you do

Some things I dislike the long intro (but I can just skip to where I need to go), the graphics/gifs (although funny at times, sometimes distracting), and you have like this late night radio host voice going on in the videos. lol

Is all the videos Episode 1 and just broken out into segments?

Great job!

Hey Jigdagod, I appreciate the great feedback. I'm trying to keep them all short and trying not to be long winded. I also don't want to go over anyone's head and trying to explain and be as detailed as possible. That's very hard to do both, be detailed but keep it short. I have a lot of videos coming that I'm sure you guys will love.

I do NOT unfortunately. Since I own Pro Tools HD 10 with 3 PCIe cards and a Mac cheese grader, I have no more slots. I was thinking about the FW versions as I would only be using it for mixing anyway but never picked one up. Maybe in the future who knows. I do have 98% of the PA plugins and Softube plugins and most of the plugins that are being made for the UAD platform, just not the UAD plugin versions themselves. You can still use the tips I'm showing for those plugins I'm sure.
When it comes to the plugin ratings/reviews, unfortunately I won't be able to rate those as of yet. Wait til you see those videos, really nice. Also who knows what will happen in the future.

The long intros, gives me a chance to showcase my tracks and do short remix audio stuff to get you into it and myself. I know not everyone will want to wait through that and I understand.
Yeah the Gif's and pictures are there to keep your attention. For me, when I'm watching educational or any type of pro audio videos, I tend to wonder off or look away as I start doing something else. I wanted to find a way to keep peoples attention, make it enjoyable and funny as I love to laugh but keep it interesting. Of course, some people won't be into that as well, and I understand that. They want me to just get down to the meat quickly. My initial idea was to keep it 3 to 5 min videos - Hahaha. After I started putting the videos together, I have some much info, I have to break it up, try to be creative with it and put it all together and still make sense. Luckily, I've been working on my FCPX skills for years. LOL
As far as the voice, I tried to make it light to sound young and it comes out weird. I naturally have a low voice. My sister said my voice sounds like a porn voice. I fell out laughing...LOL

Thanks and great question, so how I wanted it to look and be setup is, every video you see is in it's own channel.

Channel 1: Digucation
Channel 2: Pro Audio Myth Busters
Channel 3: Plugin Tips and Tricks
Channel 4: Mixing Tips
Channel 5: My Top 5 Plugins (Monthly)
Channel 6: Ratings and Reviews of Plugins

etc.... Each video will be in it's own channel (ala TV) so I can break them up and within each channel, you'll see Episodes explaining these concepts. Hope that makes sense. Later I will have extra videos and channels explaining other areas of recording/mixing/writing etc. Hopefully it all looks correct when I do the next videos. I was going to release these for the new year, but after test marketing the videos with other peers, they were like, "Man, hurry up and release these videos, great info in these" so, i just released them now.

Again, I love the good and bad feedback. That's what I want and need to make these the best I can for you guys and everyone else. Right now, I have a list of videos I have in line which are around 173 different types of videos but, with the new plugins coming out and Christmas near, I will try to focus on the new stuff and circle back around with the older plugins.

Again, thanks so much...Keep it coming!!! Marc

Jeezo, what’s good man. Glad you like the videos.
I got more coming. Yeah I wanted to make it different then everyone else and see how far I can push it but still stay within a certain time frame.
I can get long winded so, it’s good for me to edit it down as much as possible and have some funny moments or some wake me up moment in there.
Also, Omnipressor is a beast!

Thanks for the love bro! Marc

Just a tip with youtube that I keep coming across. I'm pretty sure you released these on the same day... Of recent, youtube tends to reward regular posters. People how post a few videos a week as regular subscribers come back constantly to the platform and generally it sets them off on a youtube session viewing other content so regular uploaders will be more favourable to youtube and the way it works. Next time you have a collection of videos to go up, maybe put them up at a pace that you can maintain and drip feed them rather than dropping them all at once.

As with the others, I'm looking forward to more videos. I particularly want to see your insights on how to make the most of each plugin. I think most of us tend to just open a plugin and start playing about but I've seen so much about using the correct gain on the way in to make the most of them etc.

Ah, this is exactly what I need to hear. I’m glad you said that. For this month only I will be releasing 5 videos every Monday then at the start of the year, I will be going to 1 video every Monday. I just want to get you guys addicted first... hahaha
It’s harder doing it this way because I do so much testing, research and looking for pic’s and videos etc. The end is so worth it seeing it all come together. Plus I know there will be some that challenge what I present so, I make sure I do my homework before I post anything.
Yes, so important how you approach each plugin as they are different but, for most of them, entering @ -18/-12db is always a safe Best and seems to work 99% of the time.
Love to know what plugins you guys want to see how I use it. This gives me ideas and what you guys are looking for. Of course I don’t want to be the channel of “How this plugin works” there are enough sites about that. I want to be the middle ground to professional and make people think about how they are using their plugins and why.

Again, great feedback! I love it!

Keep it coming guys, Marc

Hi Marc. I like the channel, it's instructive and funny at the same time.

An in depth omnipressor tutorial would be fantastic.

Nice work. Keep it going!

Hey Borja, ahhhh, the Omnipressor. I touched on it in the fav compressor video but I'll give an in-depth video on it. Maybe when I do the saturation and explain why saturation is important and when to use it as the Omnipressor has great saturation. If not then, I'll definitely do a breakdown on how I use it and the effects on some audio.

Thanks, Marc
