a 19" DIY rack question

I'm making a 19" rack for my studio.

Just a quick question before I start cutting.
The inner measure of the rack is of course 19".
But, how much would you add to that, to make sure all equipment goes in?

Are you talking about a standard 19" gear rack? I have a standard rolling rack. From screwhole to screwhole mine measures ~18.25" center to center, and 19" width of the frame itself.

I found this page for server racks, which seem to be the same:

If you are recessing the rails a little so that the face of the gear is flush with wood sides. Or even farther. I would add .062" to the total width. This gives a little wiggle room. When I made a previous rack exactly 19" on the money some rack gear would be a little snug trying to fit it in the rack. So if you measured the entire opening it would be 19.062" wide.

Ended up adding 2,4mm, a little bit more than 0,062".
Realised all 19" rack gear has some room for adjusting sideways.

Finding the right tool for cutting was worse though Finally grabbed my old hand saw. That was the best

I must note that I ****ed up regarding exactly this measurement.
My rails are 21mm wide. So it's 450mm + 2x21mm = 492mm (+2mm extra)
I've cut at 484mm. So, it don't fit. Damed

Well, it's not really the measurement. More the concept for the calculations..

Now, the question is:
Can I find rack-rails with 16-17mm width and those square holes?
