Acoustically treating a warehouse for video stage productions

Hey guys,

I'm attempting to build a budget video studio for web productions a few friends and I want to put on. We're looking at renting a cheap warehouse out in the suburbs and fitting it out to suit our needs. Here's a picture of the type of warehouse (they pretty much all look the same) we're after. The roof is about 4-5m high.

Obviously right now, it's super echo-ey, as it's empty and has a high roof. What would be the best approach to treat the room for sound quality in our video productions? I'm thiking about building a fake roof with foam that brings it down to about 2m high for the stage area, and pretty much making a mini room with 3 walls with soft panels.

Retain the full height as much as possible for lighting/fixtures etc. Line the walls and ceiling with porous insulation. The thicker the better. 300 mm is not too much.

Download and study Rose's Guide To Acoustic Practice. It is linked off the reference sticky at the top of the forum.

depending on isolation requirements - you could just make an infinity green screen wall set up and simply use acoustic tiles in a drop ceiling with the idea that you'll do voice over and foley stuff in an isolation room - so video stage - minimal isolation, control room - medium isolation, iso booth/room - high isolation. like Andre said, keep as much room height as possible.
