Can an open room closet tame reflections?

Hey all,
I just bought some Auralex panels that I'm placing at the reflective points in my room. My question is, to the left of my listening position I have a double door closet, filled completely with clothes hanging up in it. The clothes are basically flush with the opening, and below them is filled with boxes. If I remove the doors, would this effectively function for absorbing reflections? Or would I be better of leaving the doors on and putting some Auralex on top of them? Thanks for your input.

Definitely leave the door closed and put your Auralex on the door. The clothing would provide some amount of high frequency absorption, but would also mess with the symmetry of the room.
