newbie question - where to start measuring room ??

Hi,

I am new to the subject, just got recently SPL meter off radioshack.
I want to measure my room. I will try REW (room eq wizzard) to do the job.
Primary I got 2 tasks :
1. set 85-88 dbSPL in monitoring/listening position
2. check room in the same position (peaks/dips)

I don't have a clue where to start ? I just downloaded REW and it looks like a bit complicated tool (for beginner though).
Is there any website or video presentation(best) for dummies?
I'd looked into hometheatershack website too.

thank you in advance

Why

Hi Pasheko, there is a Sticky at the top of this forum. If you are really interested in learning how to measure and understand the measurements, good luck. IMHO it is quite a journey and of limited use. Room treatment does not change much or at all due to measurement. Most treatment is chosen for pragmatic or economic reasons.
