Using a large living room?

For a mixing and production studio (vox recording also) Is it better to have a walled off smaller studio space with a vocal booth (roughly 10x12) or just leave everything out in the open in a large living room area?

I will be moving soon and I wonder if it is worth it to wall off a portion of the living room or just leave it open and thus have a much larger space.

Larger open spaces are always better than small rooms. Always.
