I was bored and decided to design my future studio (I wish).

The first pic is an overhead view with labels for each room.

Then the rest are angled views.

The long glass sliding door separating the drum booth from the main tracking booth is meant to be one of those ones that is on rails and the sections fold together when it is opened.


I have never tried to design a studio before so let me know what you think. It is pretty obvious that I have taken everything I have seen from lots of studio designs and tried to use what I thought was cool, so don't be too surprised is some of the design is really unoriginal.

This looks like it will be a really great space. I'm impressed.

I think it looks great, but without dimensions it's impossible to comment too deeply.

I will put some guides on it and post another picture. I did not really take dimensions into account too much because I was just free-handing it all in sketchup. If the dimensions are completely unrealistic, I just need to figure out how to scale the whole model.

Also, when I was looking at the control room, I realized the shape needs to be mirrored, if I want to soffit the mains, I will see how long that will take and maybe post another picture.

Here are dimensions. I am from Canada, so I used metric... I also couldn't figure out how to convert the whole thing to imperial for easy reading. If anyone can tell me how to do this I will repost with imperial measurements.

What do you think about a cornercontrollroom design, with the controllroom in the upper right in your drawing. maybe you are able to get better visual comunication with a corner controllroom design

Haha so I got to thinking how nice it would be to have a Control Room B to go along with the studio, and if it could have access to the large tracking room as well as its own tracking room and iso booth..... So instead of just thinking about it, I added it.

Looking at the dimension and proportion, I think you'll have some difficulties bringin something bigger than an 1U rack compressor in. No way you can bring a console or a piano thru that corridor. Or maybe my eyes are fu**ed up.

remove the double glazing and reseal.
console not going anywhere once in there!
