Tiny 3-4 triangle almost touching front wall.

I'm testing out different monitor placements in my 20x12F room in my new flat. I'm starting to settle on a tiny 3'4" equilateral triangle with the backs of the speakers almost touching the front wall. Under these conditions I notice my mixing is more conservative regarding EQ in the lows to low-mids, and high-mids to treble and I'm better at avoiding harshness and boomyness. What have I done with this type monitor placement? Am I subconsciously trying to diminish influence of the room? Any pitfalls to this?
