Porous absorbers with open side DIY suggestions

I intend to make some 2' x 4' (8'' deep) porous absorbers. Many recommended open sided. Can someone recommend a design ?

At the moment all my panels are close sided using MDF.

Thanks

People commonly either make make an open frame or make the sides out of solid material and drill holes. 6"diameter holes would give ~47% open area with 1" webs. Acoustically transparent up to ~13 kHz.

Can you elaborate more or send me a link for the open frame method ?

Thanks
