I would say that placing the windows BEHIND your speakers, rather than on one side of the room or on the back wall facing your speakers is the best way to start. It gives the speakers a more symmetrical space to look into. If you want to be able to hear as you would in a well-designed studio, you still have a long way to go, but this isn’t a bad start.
