What kind of fan to use to push HVAC through soundproof baffle boxes?

I will need a 6" inline booster to get the air through the large baffles we've made.

Two questions:

1. Is it better to push or to pull the air through them and
2. What type of fan should we get? So many different kinds apparently... Direct drive external rotor motorized impeller, centrifugal (this is what we are leaning towards), grower blowers, HVAC exhaust intake (the standard cheap ones), double squirrel cage fans, exhaust fans, etc

...my head is spinning. Can't find any info on which to use for this application anywhere.

All we know is
1.) we want a variable speed fan so if our calculations are a tiny bit off we can adjust the speed accordingly and
2.) we don't want a plastic fan-blade version as I've heard furnace heat can melt the blades (?). Although he Fantech fans use a thermo-resin blade that apparently stands up to 140 degrees but yo no se

Thanks in advance
