Wow! Censorship on Cubase forum :)))

An hour ago, I asked the Cubase forum what the new Pictch change function is like in Cubase 5 -- but then they DELETED the post! hehhehheh

Is Steinberg by any chance located in the old East Germany? Would explain a few things...

I was referring to these news about Cubase 5:

Probably s├╝cks like the other editions, anyway.

Then you should ask Jules to delete this as well:

Come on man, I'm used to getting PAID for my words, and these suckers DELETE them!

Its a companies right to be forum ****s if they are paying for it, just as it is our right to ignore them. I have to agree with Scott.

that is why we go HERE now:

Cubase and Nuendo User Forums | Cubendo.com

NO CONNECTION with them

Yes, they have absolutely KILLED the forums. They were hopping a few years ago but as was said, they are a cemetary now

Uh... OK... Sounds like an issue of hurt feelings, not political correctness. If the product is awaiting an official release, you should expect your words to be deleted, no matter how valuable they were.

Yes, it seems if you want a question answered (without a pile of BS thrown at you on C.net and the Nuendo forum) you should go there.

Nah, the product HAS been released:

http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/828/emscan1jt5.jpg

That's the way companies officially release their products -- leaking scanned adds two days before NAMM and similar events. Then they bitch a bit about their free hype -- which, in this case, probably is the only hype they'll get.

It happened with the release of Motif XS, PT, UAD-2, etc., and it will happen again and again and again.

You need not be a **** or Communist to censor a forum.
  1. Every interesting public forum that survives for more than 2 weeks is in some way spam filtered and watches netiquette.
  2. Every interesting, topic specific forum that survives for more than 2 weeks (and remains interesting) somehow sorts out off topic posts to some degree. I consider GS such a forum.
  3. A forum that is run by an interest group, such as a commercial venture or a religious community, will, additionally, not tolerate posts that are of severe disservice to them. The degree to which this is done is one of the factors that possibly makes such a forum uninteresting. This is fine, as long as they make clear who they are: they are in charge of what is published on the webspace they pay for.
Ethically problematic are forums (or other web publications) of category 3 above that pretends to be category 2, for example if a music software manufacturer encourages one of their employees to try to become a GS administrator. The German Wikipedia, for example, currently is in a crisis because of some administrators aggressively pursuing the goals of some interest groups.

And about the leaks an rumours. Hey, isn't this part of the GS fun, speculating what the UAD 3 or PT 9 will look like and whether and when it will come out?

Ever been to the Ableton Live forum?

I should probably apologize for saying '****' considering the number of Germans on this forum. I am sensitive to such things. Its a slang term where I am from to mean anything "Restrictive, or authoritative in nature".

just btw author, do you think former west germany was better? :-)

and yes, my thread about the scanned picture of cubase 5 was deleted from them, too.

i think this is within their rules and ok for me.

Makes no sense to delete a post simply because some product has not been officially released yet. Is it against the law to discuss the super bowl even though the game hasn't been played yet?

Dunno... I went to the Cubase forum after a long while to see if there's anything more that I could pick up about the new release. Read two threads, and left. The same handful of people that post a 1000 times about their complaints every day since I purchased SX1 were still monopolizing the threads. Followed by many posts asking for them to cool it. S/N ratio worse than a Fostex reel to reel with the Dolby C turned off.

My sympathies lie with the moderators. I couldn't do it.
