8.5 cursor/zoom question

Sorry if it's a dumb question but I can't seem to find an answer.
Since I installed cubase 8.5 the zoom method that I liked to use doesn't work.
Usually I just click on the timeline bar and drag down to zoom in.
Is there a way to (re)activate this feature?
Also, when clicking on the time line my cursor looks annoying, I prefer the regular arrow icon.
Is there a way to get this instead of that big arrowy thing?
With the arrow it's much easier to pinpoint the exact location that you want to click on.
Thanks!

File-Prefs-Transport, zoom when locating...

Don't know about the pointer, there are different flavors available by clicking on the arrow on the tool button. Screenshot?

Ah, you mean the crosshair pointer?

I think so.
It's hard to describe but it's like 4 tiny arrows as a cross shaped thingy.

Haven't found a way to disable it.

Workaround is to split the track list and add a ruler track to the upper section.

I don't use the same Zoom method as you but I also find the new quad arrow thing annoying and imprecise. I wonder why they changed it...

Here for the gear

Just jumping on this thread, longtime cubase user since Cubase VST32, I've been on Cubase 7 now for quite some time. Trying the demo of Cubase 10. I know they changed the cursor awhile back to the crosshair thing and I must say I don't care for it that much and have been hunting around in the settings to see if there are some options to change it, so far have not found anything.. Another note, I'm not certain I like the interface much better than 7, I like the defined look of 7, 10 seems to be somewhat cartoony with the bold icons.
