Running light show from stage options

Hi all,

I just inherited the job of running lights from stage, and I'm a total newbie to dmx and pretty confused.

I'm trying to find an option for running the light show while playing guitar and singing. We have 4 Chauvet Q12 pars, and 2 Chauvet Color Palettes for front wash. Plus an Obey 70 controller.

We do use set lists but change things up a lot, no click track. I've looked into using a foot controller (my preference), my mac computer, a cheap keyboard ??

From what I'm reading, and Obey 40 and Behringer midi foot pedal might work, I'm so new to this lighting that I'm, like I said, very confused.

Thanks for any help and advice! Willing to change gear (at least the controller) if that's what it takes. I'd like to be able to change scenes, maybe some chase movement, blackout, just basic stuff.

thanks all!

Hello, something that is fairly cheap but a bit over kill for your setup is that of an ENTTEC Open USB, it costs $50, paired with a piece of open sorce software (called freestyler DMX). With this setup, you can either controll off of a computer, or set up a wireless router with your computer and control from your phone or tablet!
