You should warn us, that thing still has my ears ringing. Not kind, not kind.

2) It's so high mid present. The guitars are kind of hitting my ears in a painful way.

3) The drums sound really dull.

4) You missed the memo that "it's all about the bass." Just kidding, but, where is the beef?

5) Not my favorite style of music but the song seems legit, coming from the right place, and it feels good (again, for that genre, of which I am not an expert by any stretch).

How was this mixed? Did you mix this?

Awesome!

Maybe the low mid cut was a little drastic on the mix?

All pad and synth work pretty much done with the Jupiter-8. (Albeit, a very accurate plug in of one)
A blend of mixing work experimentation with musical consistency- impossible for one's own self critique though.
Always incredibly gracious for suggestions on improvement- in the notes or the mix.

Really enjoyed this... Some great sounds and cool melodies. And the sounds were really good. ( going to find me a Jupiter 8 Sim)

I did feel everything was competing for space in the mix..... Not frequency wise but melody and the different layers of tunes. It was all going on in the first 3ft of the soundstage.

Really enjoyed it tho- ?

See what you think

If you watch to the end there is a bit of the story behind making this. All done under Quarantine except the drums we recorded the day before lockdown as a test recording of the new vintage Ludwig kit.

I’m guessing she wrote this after a trip to Rome .

Rome brings very different things to mind. These days

She has a nice voice

Thanks for the feedback. I understand/appreciate what your saying but no reason to feel weird. She's an adult, writes adult songs and I don't influence the subject matter of her songs. She's the artist. I'm just the engineer or the producer or the assistant - or whatever my role happens to be on a particular song. And besides if I tried to censor her she'd throw me out of the studio.

She actually wrote the song prior to going to Rome. We decided to include Rome in last year's vacation allowing us to get some footage for the video.

Yes, Rome and the rest of Italy is certainly having a difficult time with the virus. Shelby dedicated the song to the people of Italy in hopes of lifting a few spirits there and has gotten lots of heartwarming feedback on her facebook page like the attached.

Nice song but I would lose the drums, if it isn't a machine, it sounds like one. The girl's voice is very nice, the melody in the vocal is great, and being a guitarist I would just love to hear this stripped down with just a guitar, or a guitar and simple acoustic piano arrangement.

Buzzes from the late 80's -- on that little cassette recorder -- might have been the electric guitar -- so many moons ago
