Thanks Lenny! It's funny how those vocals popped out, it continually amazes me how one sound leads to another. You know, the creative process, play some guitar, sing a bit, and uh oh here comes a song I appreciate your comments.

Very cool blues!

Love that strat tone and the sound of that bass guitar. Drums are just right as well.

Every so often I like to collect all the recent stuff together as an 'album', being an old git. (a lot of which I've posted here in the other 'demos' thread - thanks for all the advice!) Truly my finest cover art yet...

https://donkeyt.bandcamp.com/album/t...f-being-donkey

Costs nowt. Hopefully semi coherent as a whole but includes bits of;

Indie rokk (naturally...)
Britpop
60s pop
80s sinthesiser pop cheese
Country rock
70s hard rock
70s balladry
Shoegaze
Big Beat

Time to write some more..

Here for the gear

My fellow slutz!

I have a track from a 5 song EP here for your consideration. I performed and engineered it in an extremely modest studio I built in the office of an old warehouse.

https://antonyfitzharris.bandcamp.co...ng-left-to-say

It was recorded with all the usual low budget suspects, 57s, audix drum mics, an MXL V69 tube mic, an Se2200A, the dreaded AKG c1000s, and a bunch of Focusrite scarlett pres. Zero outboard.

I’ve since added a pair of RM BIVs and Neumann TLM102 in a mild attempt to upgrade.

All feedback welcome and much appreciated!

Thanks

I had my old Stella acoustic out last weekend. Stella was feeling pretty comfortable on my lap so I put together a quick tune to try to feature her uniquely natural sound.

You have a good ear for what to leave out. It so often gives your tunes a light, even ethereal sound. Even here, where your arrangement is well-developed and fleshed out, the guitar at the center of it all is spare, suggestive.

Very nice!

Have been away for a while. Would have to go back and check what all I missed, esp stuff from @ Unclenny Hope you're doing fine buddy. Anyway, after much procrastination, I finally had the courage to just take the plunge. Here's the album for your consideration. Comments, critiques welcome

Thanks for giving this a listen, blue.....and for that particular appreciation. Stella needs her space usually.

Thank you as well, Daniel. I was hoping you'd give this one a listen. Stella may be made out of plywood and she sure is hard to keep in tune......but she does have a ton of character.

Very cool stuff kumarab!!! There are a ton of different elements at work in this first tune (Let's Talk About It) and they all work just right together.

Wow....this second tune is seriously good!

Listening here in my office on good headphones now but I'm going to put it up on the speakers and let it play through....see who stops by to listen.

Thank you! As always, you're way too kind and generous with your words. I'm so glad you liked what you heard. Cheers.

I really like this but it was just a fun experiment that doesn't really fit collection of material I'm working on. So It's out to live a life on it's own

Loved it! Your daughter's very talented. Also, there's a uniqueness to her voice (and also the way she sings) which is rare to find these days. Best wishes to her.

What a wonderful, soulful song Leonard. I aaaam patiently....it's in my head now Lovely, sparse and just right arrangement. Beautiful. And that endearing rasp in your voice, still gets me!

Here for the gear
Hey Friends, new to this forum, but am wanting to put myself out there a little more to grow with my writing and music, (I have always just kind of made stuff but been a little nervous to ask for feedback from people that might actual have some insight). This is a single from an ep I recorded in February, and is my newest "finished" project to critique.

https://soundcloud.com/tyler-melashenko/black-cat

Gear:
SM-58
Akai MPC LIVE (all tracking, effects, and programming)
Mixed in Logic Pro
Mastered on high through Landr

Samples:
Acoustic Guitar
808's
Yamaha Portasound Bass Sample
Live Hi-Hats (Sabian B)
Logic Pro Tambourine Sample

Lyrics:
V1
I swear I can’t move my arms when I feel like this
my brains dead with no control of my experience
I feel low, I wish I had a clear head
Judge dread about my day before I get out of my bed

PRE
I anticipate some negative behavior from my face, I’m dead weight to my waist, bad thoughts roll in like waves,
On the coast of my emotions, tried to touch em with my toes, but that ocean sucked me down sucked me down into the undertow

CHORUS
And you know
I don’t fight it
I love to feel just like a little black cat
You know
It’s exciting
That’s why I never tell it not to come back
And you know
That I like it
I love to feel just like a little black cat
You know
It’s exciting
That’s why I never tell it not to come back

V2
Turn off the light behind my eyes
Blue the moon darken my heart inside
Pull the sun out of the sky for night
Turn the key to start the thoughts in my mind at the right time

BRIDGE
I’m addicted to this feeling
But don’t leave me baby
I’m addicted to feeling like this
I’ll take the pills if you make me

--------------------------------------------------------------

I would love some feedback This is honestly the best I can make something sound, and it just still seems to be lacking the punch of other lo-fi. minimal, top 40ish, hip hop, radio pop stuff. Please ask for any other specifics of my setup or if I am just in the wrong place, please be kind and direct me to the correct 'forum.'

Thank you
TM
