Wow that is amazing. I was just about to ask on the other thread why there couldn't be a songwriting forum here then saw your announcement.

Excellent job. The other songwriting forums are crap.

That is, after all, WHY we are gearslutz, right? What better reason to have a songwriters connection/outlet?

Thumbs up!!!!!

And, THANK YOU!

Would really like some insight from you on the whole songwriting-stuff, James. "I Miss Home" is more or less the perfect rock-song. Simple, to the point and catchy. No smoke and mirrors, just a Les Paul through a Marshall.

Mr Mods,

Do you think we could have a sub-forum in here for people to post songs in? Was thinking it might be better that people start their own thread with their track and then all the feedback is contained for that one song.

Otherwise it might be that peoples songs will get lost amongst the clutter of comments with everything in the one thread.

Cheers.

Yeah -- that would be great, but given the way that the thread has gone so farit seems like it would not be a bad idea to have two threads

-- a rough demo thread for comments on composition, lyrics etc where performance is not the issue. This would be for work in progress.

-- a 'finished' demo thread which would include comments on performance. This would be for demos which are intended to go to publishers etc

Thanks for doing that.

Though I do think that in the long run it could get quite a messy thread with multiple discussions spilling over each other. I can't help feeling that having each song it's own thread in a sub forum would make it far easier to listen to songs, comment on them, and maybe more importantly should anyone want to come to look for songs...potentially.

I will leave that in your capable hands though. I don't want to sound ungrateful, this forum is excellent.

Cheers.

You know, when I joined this forum I was always like "my weakest point is songwriting, I'd like to see a songwriting forum" but didn't mention it cos I thought I'd get shot down in a brutal fashion, but i'm so incredibly happy to see one here now! Thanks a lot! :D

Just to echo a big THANK YOU for the song writing forum. I have found my Gearslutiness waning some lately but am really stoked to start creating new music again, with the focus on the musical creative process as the primary end and goal.
