Can you pitch publishers a song that you've already released as an artist yourself?

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well today.

Let's say I have a song that I've released as an artist myself, and it's on iTunes, YouTube, etc. Can I pitch that same song to a music publisher as a demo to be recorded by other artists as usual?

Does the situation change if the song was released independently vs with a record label?

Thank you!

Who did you release the music through?

Yep. All you need at the end of the day is people in love with your song. Covers and interpolations get done all the time. If the song is right, I can't see it being any less likely than any other pitch.
