Thumbs up I found a site where you can upload your music/videos and cannot be pirated

It's a new video platform called bit.tube

It has decentralized hosting so videos cannot be downloaded/pirated and on top of that you earn its cryptocurrency for every view you get and by watching videos. How cool is that?

Another thing that I've found very interesting is that it isn't crowded of musicians yet so you probably will get more visibility than on another platforms.

Of course the content can be pirated.

Pirating really isn't the issue it used to be though. . you can pirate everything on Netflix if you like but most don't do it, the affordable streaming subscription model has been the largest preventer of that. It seems that when things are too cheap and easy, the vast majority of people won't pirate.

Not being able to use a youtube-to-mp3 type website is a far cry from "cannot be pirated."

Someone else gets it; "cannot be pirated" is a rather ridiculous claim. Just because it can't be downloaded directly (even if true) doesn't mean it can't be pirated, as in used, copied etc.

In fact it's rather sad and annoying how easy it is for the unoriginal slimeballs to do this. Glad I'm not in this for the money.

Exactly! Pirates will always find some way to pirate. So useless to stress about it. Besides, it`s not like you`re loosing sales or anything. Those pirates never planed on buying anything.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Napster, Simon Posford especially, and many others, would not have pocketed a dime of my money because I wouldn't have known they existed without having access to the neighbor's shared folder three houses down the street haha

Almost sounds, as they say, too good to be true.

It doesn't charge anyone for anything (I guess) but they manage to pay people for consuming their content.

[I just did a little checking... always interested in anything that sounds too good to be true... as an intellectual exercise.]

And... of course, it's a cryptocurrency (bitcoin) 'mining' site. I get it now. The Russian language stuff was a hint.

@ theblue1 - this is fascinating, but for me, head-frying stuff, so could you please elucidate a little for my inner Luddite?

When you say it's a bitcoin mining site, do you mean it's highjacking my processing power for mining while I'm watching videos? Or is it something else?

Well-spotted, by the way - a good application of the old maxim "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is".

Cryptocurrency in the bitcoin model is sometimes called a 'distributed ledger'... the accounting scheme is... complex. And a big jump for us old-fashioned bookkeeping types.

I'll pass off to this Investopedia article:

How Does Bitcoin Mining Work? | Investopedia

The 'accounting' is typically done across networks as it is enormously CPU intensive. Bit mining farms often use huge networks of repurposed GPUs -- graphic processing units, basically math-intensive processors typically used for math-heavy 3D graphics but now put to use in bit mining work. But some bitmining concerns have been set up to tap into Internet users's machines; give the user a video or blog post to read and, while they're on the site, take advantage of modern browser's system integration to use the visitor machine as a processing node. It's obviously even less efficient.

Speaking of efficiency, it's one of the (but far from the only) fundamental complaints about bitmining: it uses mega-buckets of energy on an ongoing basis.

I get the general idea, but with regard to process, I think I need the ELI3 explanation...

It's not a mining site, russian language?

You can mine its cryptocurrency but for that you need powerful GPU/s, what you see on the website "mining" is that you can manage it from there.

You get paid because it's a decentralized video platform kind of P2P and when you are on the website you act as a node and get rewarded for it.

I have several channels of different topics and in two months I've earned like 500€ aprox. for views and for viewing content, mostly for views of course.

My music channel doesn't get a lot of views but at least I earn something for sharing my music for the first time in my life.

It's a transparent platform, blockchain doesn't lie and you can see what you earn when you want with its explorer. If you think it's too good to be true still using youtube and get nothing.

They even have a porn platform and you earn by watching it as well.LOL

You know something without a doubt of cryptoworld but every project is different. This crypto can't be mined with CPU, only GPU of at least 4GB.

Again, you don't mine by watching videos.

Just wanted to share an amazing platform IMO but I know that many people think of scam when reads the word crypto.

Terrible site. Who would honestly waste time trying to pirate poor material from a poor website. Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse...
