Maybe, you can find the answer to your question after watching this video. Good luck, my friend, in your search for the truth.

I just googled the song and this came up? Nothing else though....great track!!!
Back in 1982 it was so different than the usual fare. It seems the only thing that remains of the original music video is the MTV pop-up video.

But I did find this, a much different video which I hadn't seen before.

Very interesting! All I ever really knew was what I learned from the pop-up video years ago.

It is truth shall make us free.

I got a kick out of this one from 1983.

Humble opinion here, of course, but this may have been the hottest girl in a 1980s music video.

That hair!

I thought the best thing about 1980s music videos was the girls. I had the hots for the one holding the teddy bear at 1:48. Yeah, I know. Kind of kinky.

No girls, but a nice Austin Healey 3000 in British racing green goes a ways in making up for that. I liked the song. From 1985...

Girls. A fun song with a great chorus. What's not to love?

No girls and no cars, but I liked what these guys were doing back then.

You are aware that sex sells, right?

Forget about the Music; making a video with an attractive girl is money in the bank.

I do not remember ever hearing this group before yesterday, and I live in NYC!!

Ten Million views?!?!?!

Yes, that's Patsy Kensit (Liam Gallagher's Ex) 'Eighth Wonder' were hyped in the UK during the 80s as 'the next big thing' due to the fact that she was an 'it girl' type model, she also did a bit of acting- 'Absolute Beginners' I think?....She's more famous now for her nuptials with Liam though.

I found out she was born exactly 12 days before I arrived in America!!
I still have the Lord John of CARNABY STREET necktie I wore on that memorable trip.

Back in 1994/5, I was in a room at 60 Centre Street, here in Manhattan when, lo & behold, BLONDIE walked in, and casually asked for a deferral from Jury Duty. The room did light up!!

She even gave me an autograph.
Nice lady.

Between his "accent" and the "funky" delivery, I found the lyrics incomprehensible; until....

"This song is loaded with clever wordplay."

Elvis explained:
"This is a ranting kind of song. I was consciously writing words that didn't made sense - to make a blurred picture, because I was living a blurred life."

Beyond Belief

History repeats the old conceits
The glib replies the same defeats
Keep your finger on important issues
With crocodile tears and a pocketful of tissues
I'm just the oily slick
On the windup world of the nervous tick
In a very fashionable hovel

I hang around dying to be tortured
You'll never be alone in the bone orchard
This battle with the bottle is nothing so novel

So in this almost empty gin palace
Through a two-way looking glass
You see your Alice

You know she has no sense
For all your jealousy
In a sense she still smiles very sweetly

Charged with insults and flattery
Her body moves with malice
Do you have to be so cruel to be callous

And now you find you fit this identikit completely
You say you have no secrets
And then leave discreetly

I might make it California's fault
Be locked in Geneva's deepest vault
Just like the canals of Mars and the Great Barrier Reef
I came to you beyond belief

My hands were clammy and cunning
She's been suitably stunning
But I know there's not a hope in Hades
All the laddies cat call and wolf whistle
Dog fight like rose and thistle

I got a feeling
I'm going to get a lot of grief
Once this seemed so appealing
Now I am beyond belief

From the early days of the Seattle grunge scene, Mother Love Bone (1988 - 1990), with Andrew Wood, Stone Gossard, Greg Gilmore, Jeff Ament and Bruce Fairweather.

I don't post in here much because I felt that the eighties were primarily a time of disposable music and disposable income, but I'll give these guys props. This tune really had a fire that burns to this day, which epitomised the eighties completely.

Another from Elvis Costello...this time his brilliant cover of Leon Payne's chilling ditty 'Psycho' written in 1968, this song was banned by many radio stations when initially released by Eddie Noack...Costello's version is still my favourite, the 'money shot' delivered in the last line of the song is a work of genius.

I always thought that Elvis Costello had an unusual singing style, more speaking than singing.

Well, after listening to this here video, I googled
'Elvis Costello Singing Style' because I was sure more people out there felt the same.

Ended up @ elviscostello.info and sure enough, found a thread named 'Getting "used" to Elvis' voice.'

Very interesting.

Thank you clump!
