Schoeps CMC-64 (MK4) w/ TC Konnekt 48 for Guitar + XY

we thought hard about a new matched pair of microphones, mainly for acoustics guitar recordings but also for stereo room- and live recordings (in clubs) and later on for drum overheads in the studio as well. we believe, a pair of schoeps cmc-64 (mk4) could be the ones we are looking for. we haven't heard them by now, though.

we know- and have used oktava mk012 matched pair for that but we want to go a step further.

by now we haven't invested in outboard mic pre's, we use a tc konnekt 48 and by now, we are pretty much satisfied with that solution.

does this mic upgrade makes sense, in term of the quality of the pre's and converters of the konnekt 48? (i'm pretty sure we'll invest in some better mic pre's in the future, maybe a neve 1073 dpa for the new pair, but not now.)

cheers!

Lives for gear

Always start with transducers. So yes upgrades mics before your preamp. The schoeps electronics are pretty good and those mics don't need much gain so they will sound terrific with your preamps. You can't get better than a pair of schoeps.
