One of LA’s Music Colleges LAMA Will Officially Announce at the 2014 Winter NAMM

LAMA, one of LA’s music colleges, announced their new name Los Angeles College of Music (LACM) at NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants). The name was changed to better represent the college providing new degrees in Music Performance and Music Production! The Bachelor’s programs allow individuals to not only develop their talents but to truly find their voice, understand how to work in the music industry, and to develop a strong network.

LAMA announced their new name and their new Songwriting Program Chair Arthur "Art" Alexakis at the 2014 Winter NAMM. Art Alexakis is best known as the Lead Singer, Guitarist, Producer and Principal Songwriter for the Multi-Platinum, Grammy nominated Alternative rock band Everclear. As Chair of the Songwriting Program for the Los Angeles College of Music, he will lead and inspire the next generation of musicians in songwriting. At the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus at NAMM, Alexakis wrote an original song with five LACM students. The song was turned into a music video and debuted on stage at a press conference at the Lennon Bus Imagine Party!

The Los Angeles College of Music (LACM) comprised of current, leading, musical professionals with a passion for inspiring the next generation. They offer a significant number of real world playing situations with professional musicians, not just peers, setting the school apart from other prestigious music institutions. The college is comprised of talented students from around the world who partner together in an intimate and supportive environment to learn to create, record, perform and market in today’s competitive music industry. Songwriting majors at LACM will graduate armed with a solid catalog of competitive material along with a network of music and entertainment professionals to further their career goals. Come and visit www.LACM.edu and see how you can start to get your degree You can also check LACM on their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Purpledarts, there's a GearSlutz account called 'press desk' which is a more appropriate channel for commercial announcements like these, look through the top level forums and forum rules and you'll find the right way to put up information like this (and get more views too). Case in point...

1. This is the electronic music forum, we consider guitars to be strange and terrifying objects from another dimension. We're not too sure about singing either. Seriously, this college is all about drums, guitar, bass and singing and you don't even offer a course in keyboard playing or synth programming, so this is exactly the worst place to post on the entire website.

2. The correct spelling is Principal. Principles are guiding ideas, like the idea that all musical instruments should be electrically powered, Principal refers to someone or something in a leading position. If you write press releases for a living you should employ proper spelling and grammar.

Also, everyone knows the new name is just because the administrators were getting sick of jokes about the old name.

Thanks for the tips!

Also, LAMA changed its name to LACM (Los Angeles College of Music) because now they offer bachelor programs and degrees so "college" is a more fitting term for the new and changing programs. Thanks for taking the time to read through

I posted it in the NAMM forum, not the electronic music forum (see above:
Home > The Forums > NAMM 2014 > One of LA’s Music Colleges LAMA Will Officially Announce at the 2014 Winter NAMM >). Much of the information is about NAMM and the songwriting event that LACM did with their new songwriting Chair - Art from Everclear, Students from their school and the John Lennon Songwriting Bus. It's also not a press release so didn't even think to put it in the "Press Deck" forum...Seems like the "NAMM forum" is the appropriate place to post it...no?

Again, this is NOT the electronic music forum! It's the NAMM forum! Other forums that exist on this site include a guitar forum, a songwriting forum, a rap forum, etc. - its not an electronic music site and this is not the electronic music forum.

I'll give you that one! I don't write press releases for a living and yes, you are correct so I changed the spelling! Thanks
