What about the Sansamp RBI. Great tone from clean to overdriven. It can get fuzzy if you overdo it, otherwise it's cool!

+1 0n the Fulltone

Ibanez Phat Hed on the OD setting... goes from crunch to OTT gain. SOunds really good into an amp or Sansamp Bass driver.

Loads of bottom end if you need it.

Works epecially well with a pick, exp if you put the gain on minimum, crank the mid boost on an active bass, and leave bass freq unboosted on the bass itself, and EQ the pedal or amp. Instant Chris Squire or Glenn Hughes!

The filter switch settings are pretty useless though...

Loving the Sansamp Bass Driver over here as well, both direct and into an SVT-4.

I just ordered the new MXR Bass Blowtorch to check out; it's more of an over the top extreme-fuzz sound but I'm curious to check out its range myself. I can always use a little extra stank, ha ha.

there's a mod for a rat where you just clip one of the resistors and the bottom end gets a lot fuller. i've done it and it works.

i love the V-stack pedal for edgy bass distortion. it's not bad as an analog amp simulator either.

(you want the gold one)

the hao sole pressure does an awesome job at retaining bottom end for guitar or bass. with the volume dimed and the gain on zero it almost sounds bypassed, not thinned out at all. then you just start adding gain, and that's exactly what it does. gain. no pinching of the bottom. there's nothing i hate more than turning off an overdrive pedal and having the sound get fuller.

i did a job with the new bass Behringer rig, Yes it was Behringer, we had to track quick before someone used a CB radio, naw for real a Behringer thru a Avalon 737 gave a really great grand funk bass sound.
