See the 990C+ page on our site, there is a pdf manual we created there.

It's not like Warm is using a "bad" part, but sure many would prefer to swap for the John Hardy. You can spend a little more and upgrade yourself, or we can do it for you.

so the 990c replaces what bryce calls the "clean" opamp? and the other opamp that stays in the preamp is the more api style opamp?

I recently bought a Hardy 990C+ from Warren and it arrived quickly. The photo on his site made it easy to swap out, and I am very pleased with the whole thing! The option to have a Tonebeast and take it up a notch towards a Hardy M1 is very cool.

I do wonder if anyone is using the Trident or the Ticha opamps and haven't really seen anything about anyone using them in the ToneBeast.

Does anybody know of any demonstrations of the tone beast being used to distort drums or synths?

Just got a Tonebeast, LOVE it. I'm interested in doing the John Hardy op amp mod. But...in the other direction, are there any op amps that would give more vintage tone? I do 70s acoustic style, my favorite tone would have to be Helios. I read on Zen Pro reviews that someone had put a 7th Circle SC10 opamp in this and had good results, Pacifica like. Any other ideas? I'm a bit of an opamp newb, so not sure which opamps wouldnt' work in this...

Gap73 might be more your speed in the price range.

API aspiring copies try to emulate the "modern punch" (there are some subjective descriptors for you to ponder) API is known for.

GAP73 is more going for the "vintage" thing
