Cheap microphone mods

I have a bunch of cheap mics that i want to get upgraded.
-2 Apex ribbon 205's
-1 Studio Projects C3 (Orig)
-1 Studio Projects C1 (Orig)
-3 real Oktava MC-012's

Any advice or experience with different mods from different guys on these mics?

Thanks, I'm looking more for opinions of users who had the mods. Were they worth it, how did it change the microphone etc. I found some Dr Bill posts, any others around have opinions or experience?

I used to have an Apex 205 modified by Mr. Joly. I don't know how it sounded before the mod because I bought mine & had it shipped directly to him for the mod.

It sounded good, especially for what I paid for it (mic plus mod right at $400). Did it sound as good as my AEA R84? No, but it sounded more like that than it had a right to considering that the AEA mic was over 2 1/2 times the price.

If you're looking for a bargain, go for it.

Perfect, thanks for the honesty and comparison.
Mind you the R84 is such a fantastic mic, it kills 2k units.
