Folcrom Turns Ten

Roll Music Systems is celebrating ten years in production of our RMS-216 Folcrom passive summing device.

After selling its first prototype summing device to one Steven Slate, RMS began selling the pistachio green production version of the product in October 2003. At the time, some critics suggested analog summing was a fad destined for obsolescence. Ten years later, the Folcrom is still selling strong and has made a signifigant impact on the art of mixing. It has received overwhelmingly positive reviews over the years and continues to see innumerable satisfied customers.

Designed to satisfy the craving for sweet analog sound without sacrificing the automation, recall, and workflow benefits of the Digital Audio Workstation, the Folcrom provides analog summing of DAW mixes in a simple, easy-to-use format that allows total sonic flexibility. Because it is entirely passive, the Folcrom has no “sound” of its own. It is used in conjunction with a pair of microphone preamps which provide makeup gain and thereby apply their own coloration to the mix. The result is the most versatile summing device on the market, and as a happy coincidence, also the most economical.

The RMS-216 Folcrom was the first product introduced by Roll Music Systems, which began in Minneapolis in 1998 as an all-analog recording studio. Subsequent products include the RMS-755 Super Stereo mixbus compressor, the RMS-5A7 Tubule 500-series tube microphone preamplifier module, and the brand new RMS-MC5 Valvop 500-series tube optical compressor module.

Happy birthday folcrom!

Any plans for an mkii? I'd be interested in a version that had two 8x2 paths in it instead of one 16x2...

Once-a-roadie -
We do have a Folcrom option that has two 16x2 busses. But it's 2RU and it costs twice as much.
