Jules...any guest moderators?

Jules,

I first got into GS by stumbling over the Dave Derr guest moderator forum (which was awesome!). I was just wondering if there are any plans to invite someone else to hold that chair soon? Maybe someone from API or someone like Michael Brauer, whomever, it doesn't matter...a concentrated discussion like that seems to elicit a lot of great information. Let us know. Thanks!!

I don't think it really matters that much who it is (as long as they're experienced), I just thought the discussion was really focused and useful when framed that way.

All good points,

Ever since I built my new live room / extension I have been busy,

Busy building

Busy working / raising the $$$ I spent on it

Everything has got a lot more 'serious' now that my overheads have jumped from easy / manageable - to DOUBLE.

Add to that, a spec deal act has become more serious, now signed to a major, and I am recording more under that deal...

So more serious sh!t happening round my studio.... but despite the increased stress, most all of it is GOOD sh!t. (fingers crossed!)

I apologize for dropping the guest mod ball these past SEVERAL months!

I DO plan to set more up in future, please bear with me on this...

Thanks

Meanwhile suggestions are always good, keep em coming!

How about John Custer or Chris Goss?

Or better yet, Colin Richardson?

How about Geoff Daking? He's not only a designer, he's engineered many great artists.

I could write them too but then I wouldn't get any work done at all!

We really ought to do some kind of a Nashville hang!

Ummm...

Take a look at this thread.

https://www.gearslutz.com/board/showthrea...ighlight=guest

Some of the people mentioned have already been asked or we decided not to ask them for whatever reasons, sometimes political. If you know or have some kind of connection to the person you'd like to see as as guest mod (your bastard brother in law does his dry cleaning at the same place that Sir Arthur Blowhard Mix Dude's girlfriends half sister's step brother does) then run it past Jules first.

Gracious amigos.

I'd vote for someone working with gear rather than on gear at this point. Another vote for Brauer.
Or Geoff Emerick, Ken Scott, Alan Parsons.

How about as an interim measure some sort of tag team approach from a few of the senior slutz.

"Bob O vs Mike W the final face off"

No but seriously if the responsiblity was shared it might make the work load lighter. You could combine two or three guys who work in the same style or genre or take two guys with different backgrounds and see how they approach the same question. It could through up some good stuff.

My regular Monday night hang is the Station Inn. We could all get together before the show. Michael has a great sounding weekday lunch hang if that doesn't work.

JUles thats great news for you

I think you've got a great forum here. Its great to go to a recording forum that does not have every word a curse with insults flying all over the place

The guest Mods were always awesome though I would love to hear even a few days worth of mods from Lord/alge, Keven Shirley--or how bout you

Please also add George Massenburg, and Tony Visconti to the "list" of candidates. I think they'd do it, if asked.

Chris

P.S. Bob, I hope you reconsider the guest moderator "gig"
sometime down the road, and do it. Maybe co-mod?

I guess that I'm not on the list for Michael's lunch hang, but I sitting with Bob at the Station in about half the time (or whenever I get a call that says I should come down).

two weeks ago, Norah Jones was there all night, and so was miamiengineer Eric Schilling. Last week, Rhonda Vincent sat in. It's an interesting hang, especially since the band is wonderful.
