tdm front end help

hey guys! this is my cherry popping first gearslut post!

just looking for some advice as i am in a whirlwind of way 2 many choices.

my setup now is pro tools tdm mix plus with a digi 888.
i am currently using a pretty decent sounding ramsa wr-t820b board direct out into the 888.

my monitor section on the board pops on after warmed up but keeps popping off and its prob not worth fixing since i only paid 500 for this thing.

so i am looking to get an 8 ch pre for a front ent to pt.
o would love some mytek's but i can't afford that range of gear.
i am looking for something nice but not 2 nice LOL i cant afford 8 neves etc.

i do a lot of rock,hip-hop, and r n' b live drums etc. i was looking at the millinia 8ch, true presision, ua 8110, i know there are a lot of other options, like all the api, neve clones, purple audio etc.

so i am looking for some solid opinions to help me narrow down the list of options
i definatley dont mind some good ol' color in the sound, warmth is good. definatley not like sterile isa clean if ya know what i mean.

thanks for taking the time to help me out!
this board rocks!
